Neither a bedtime story or fairy tale....just the facts -
What is PacP00?
The Pacific plate is in constant motion and therefore requires its own uniques set of transformation parameters. NAD83(PacP00) is for users on the Pacific plate, which includes the Hawaiian and Marshall Islands and American Samoa. Those on Guam and others on the Mariana plate, use NAD83(MarP00).
2008
Through due diligence of friends, collegues and fans of this site, the transformations for PacP00 were updated in the last days of 2008. These new parameters were submitted to various vendors including Trimble and ESRI for incorporation in their software. Instructions for manully making these changes were also posted in the Datums Cheatsheets section of this site.
2009
Trimble added a new transform NAD83(PacP00 Epoch 2003 to reflect the new parameters (referred to as HTDP) to PFO v.4.2
2010
What was initially pointed out as an apparent typographic error on the posted instruction turned out to be traced back to the flurry of 2008 e-mails and subsequently incorporated into the Coordinate System Manager in Pathfinder Office. Consequently, the Ty parameter in the latest Pathfinder Office v5.0 is incorrect. ALL Pathfinder Office users must manually add or correct these parameters in the even the most current version of PFO. The parameters in our Datums Cheatsheets have been updated accordingly.
For NAD83 (PacP00 Epoch 2003.0) Translation Y should be -2.01411 m NOT -2.10411 m
Failing to make this change will result in a shift of approximately 10 cm.
To be totally correct, the epoch should be 2002 not 2003.0 but this is more of a termininology issue and does not affect your data.
