Communicating Route Data with ESRI ArcReader (2005)
There are a number of technologies to choose from for the delivery of maps and spatial data. The 'best tool for the job' depends on the audience, the data, and the project goal. There is no one right choice. As technology progresses, even today's best choice might soon be surpassed by newer options and toys.
The chosen technology to communicate spatial information was ESRI ArcReader. To view the previous race route data, ArcReader had to be installed on the user desktop machine. This proved to be a challenge to some.
The data was republished in a newer format, GeoPDF which could be opened the commonly adopted Adobe Reader application.
The data moved again to keep pace with evolving technologies.
